Celtalga is a technology-based company and spin-off from the Universidade de Santiago Compostela whose activity is focused on the production of aqueous seaweed extracts from the Galician coast.
They are in charge of developing processes for the extraction of active compounds from seaweed for industrial cosmetic, nutraceutical and food applications.
Its technology is based on a patented aqueous process. The ultrasound assisted process applied to obtain the extracts uses water as the only solvent, thus being an ecological process. Both the bioactive ingredients and the processes used are patented by the Universidade de Santiago Compostela.
The limitation of process times and temperatures makes these extracts, obtained by water, preserve the nutrients and antioxidants to the maximum, which makes them ideal for the natural cosmetics and food industry.
The algae from which they are taken, have ecological certification and are obtained in accordance with exploitation plans regulated by the Xunta de Galicia, which guarantees the sustainability of the resources. The two areas in which they are obtained are the Illas Atlánticas National Park and the rías altas.
They are a reference in the generation of new natural ingredients and active principles of marine origin for the food, cosmetic and health sectors.
