ABSTRACT

Automated submersible platform for off shore aquaculture. The platform reacts to bad wether conditions at the surface (high waves) by submerging and comes back to surface when conditions get back to normal.

There are several cylindrical cages in operation that can be submerged. However, due to the non-segmentation of its float rings, when they are flooded, there is a great imbalance of the cage in the process of submersion and in the process of immersion, which can cause rupture in the nets and stress to the fish.
Uniform distribution of the submersion / emersion chambers that gives balance; Mooring ring in the center of gravity that contributes to the balance of the equipment and distributes efforts across the structure;

It allows to place an external net of protection against attacks of predators and escape of fish in cultivation;
Components can have variable dimensions and are compatible with 20 ‘and 40’ containers, which allows to define variable exploration volumes between 4000 and 30000m3;Ease of transport of the Cage components in containers as well as their assembly.

OBJECTIVES

The technological concept is precisely formulated not only in the functional aspect, but also supported by detailed drawings and buoyancy calculations based on preliminary design and structural options.

The equipment is developed, corresponding to Level 2 of Technological Preparation (EU).

Its even distribution of the immersion chambers gives balance; Mooring ring in the center of gravity that contributes to the balance of the equipment and distributes the efforts through the structure; It allows to place an external protection net against the attacks of predators and the escape of the fish in the culture; The components can have variable dimensions and are compatible with 20′ and 40′ containers, which allows to define variable exploration volumes between 4000 and 30000m3; Adaptation to the biological requirements of the species: space confined to the natural environment of the species, which allows day/night feeding and convenient water renewal; Optimized feeding system, controlled production by means of image capture and remote parameter measurement; Cleaning, calibration and fishing work by means of snorkelling; Easy transport of cage components in containers, as well as assembly.

It allows the fish prices to be lower than those practiced with currently existing solutions. Lowers the risks associated to the damage or destruction of offsohre aquaculture cages.

Among the vehicles for the commercialization of this technology, it belongs to the international patent application No. PCT / PT / 000014.

FINANCE

Seeks entry of new partners / investors in order to raise the share capital, to finance the platform prototype and develop proof of concept in a real environment.
